How to set up an alarm function on a Free Style Libre sensor?

The FreeStyle Libre 2 system provides an easy-to-use alarm experience by offering alarms that can be customised for low glucose and also for high glucose level, and a technical feature that notifies the user of signal loss (e.g., when the sensor is not communicating with the reader).

Finger pricks are required if your glucose readings and alarms do not match your symptoms or your expectations.



These can be set based on Android and IOS devices as below:


ANDROID


  1. In the settings of your smartphone under Apps, select the FreeStyle LibreLink app.

  2. Go to App Notifications.

  3. Activate all the notifications to not miss any alarms.

Touch No to dismiss alarm

Touch Yes or press the Home Button to dismiss alarm and scan the Sensor.

It notifies you when glucose is below the level you set.

It notifies you when Sensor is not communicating with Reader and that you are not getting Low or High Glucose Alarms.



IOS and Libre 2 App


This app is approved for adults and children (4 and older) with diabetes, the new Libre 2 app creates a seamless experience for users and healthcare professionals. The app enables users to get glucose readings directly on their iPhones without the use of a reader.


You can also share your data with your clinic with help of linking this app to Libreview portal which your clinic can set you up for. Its also useful as these days most follow up consultations are conducted remotely.
